Detox The Whole Body

- Do you ever think about all the toxins you are exposed to daily? Everything from shampoos, shaving cream, body soaps and even toothpaste can be toxic. Some foods have pesticides which can be damaging to our body. To optimize overall health, and improve your body’s energy production, it is important to reduce the amount of toxic exposure you are subjecting yourself to.
Some suggested ways to detox your body are:
- Use natural cleaners. Some ideas of products that contain chemicals that can damage our health are: laundry detergents and softner, dish soaps, household cleaners, and dryer sheets. You can find alternatives that are environmentally friendly and void of toxic chemicals at most health food stores. I use baking soda and vinegar as an alternative to toxic household cleaners. Avoiding inhaling the toxic fumes from cleaners is beneficial to the health of your body.
- Make a change in the beauty products you purchase. Make-ups, facial cleaners, moisturizers all have toxic chemicals. You can find healthy alternatives made with natural ingredients at a health food store. I suggest you consider using an antiperspirant that is free of aluminum and parabens. Paraben free products are becoming more mainstream. Read your labels it will tell you if the product is free of these ingredients.
- Drink purified water. A good filtration system is nice to have. There are some good inexpensive systems for purchase. A charcoal blocked system works the best in blocking out the impurities in the water. I suggest you consider buying a shower filtration to avoid the chlorine that is found in most water. Chlorine is very toxic.
- Be conscientious about drinking plenty of water daily. Make sure you are drinking about 4 8-ounce glasses of mostly water a day. Herbal teas can be included as part of your intake. I don’t suggest considering coffee as part of the fluid intake due to it being a diuretic. Drinking plenty of water is beneficial to daily elimination which helps detox the body. Water helps move fiber through the body. Without water, fiber becomes like concrete causing constipation.
- Avoid processed and chemical-filled foods. These foods along with daily stress can shut down digestion. This can possibly cause toxic build-up in a persons digestion system. There are studies done that show toxic build-up can cause colon cancer.
- If you must eat meat make sure it is organically grown, free of hormones and chemical additives. This will help detox the body of unnecessary additives. Also do not eat farm-raised fish. Farm raised fish are feed additives. Farm-raised salmon is high in PCB counts. Fish from polluted waters should also be avoided. I suggest you only buy fish that is labeled “wild.”
- Avoid soft drinks, coffee, alcohol, refined carbohydrates (cakes, doughnuts, ice cream, cookies, muffins), sugar, processed meats, trans fats, artificial sweetners, chemical additives, preservatives, dyes, coloring, and flavors. These foods can be damaging to the liver making it work hard to process through the digestive system. They are toxic to your system.
- This is only a fraction of ideas one can do to help detox the whole body. I suggest making a change slowly, taking “baby steps” so you don’t become burnt out and feel like it is too much change at once. To find out more about all the ways you can become healthier consider reading my referenced books below.
- After I was diagnosed with breast cancer I took it upon myself to start changing the way I treated my body. That was ten years ago and I haven’t had a problem with my cancer since. I feel my lifestyle change is my insurance plan. You too might want to consider making some major changes in the way you treat your body.
