  • Would you like a different, quick, tasty idea on what to do with basil?  This recipe is healthy with good flavor.  There can be many variations when making this recipe.  Be creative adding in what you like best.  The main ingredients are the basil, garlic, and olive oil.

Basil Pasta

  • 8 oz. of whole wheat pasta
  • 4 oz. of fresh basil
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin cold pressed olive oil (just enough to mix ingredients and pasta together)
  • sundried tomatoes (optional)

Chop up basil, garlic, and sundried tomatoes.  In a bowl mix together the basil, garlic, sundried tomatoes, and olive oil.  Set aside for at least 30 minutes to soak up flavor.  Cook pasta, and drain.  Place pasta in a large serving bowl.  Combine all other ingredients into the large bowl and toss.

Some options to this recipe are:

Use cooked shrimp or chicken, or no meat at all.  If using chicken cut it into bite size pieces.

Use fresh cherry tomatoes instead of sundried.

Garnish with parmesan cheese.

You can use more garlic or less…make it to your liking.

Serves 2-3

When I fix this recipe for company everyone enjoys it and it doesn’t require a lot of time to make.  It is one of those last minute meals that is easy to throw together.  I like the lightness of the dish, but still getting good flavor.

  • The term arthritis actually means “joint inflammation” but there are a group of rheumatic diseases (over 100) and conditions that can cause pain, swelling, and stiffness in the joints.  Depending on the condition, muscles, bones, and some internal organs can be affected with an outcome of possible life-threatening, and debilitating complications.
  • Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the two major forms of arthritis.
  • Osteoarthritis is more common in the elderly.  With age the cartilage in the joints wears away creating pain and stiffness primarily in weight-bearing joints.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis attacks the whole body, not just certain joints. Continue Reading »
