  • Breath Work – Bringing in oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide with deep breathing can help with emotional situations and moods.  Slowly inhale a deep breath, then exhale making it comfortable and feeling natural.  Do  between 8-10 times.

Where To Find A Decent Whole Wheat Tortilla In Ohio?

tortilla-stack

Dilemma: I have had so much trouble finding a whole wheat tortillas in the Dayton area.  Actually an organic whole wheat tortillas.

Some may think I am being picky with the tortillas having to be organic but it is a preference I have.  Maybe I am looking too hard (i.e. health food stores, Trader Joe’s).

I haven’t tried the average grocery stores which is probably where I would find them (go figure).  I am use to being able to find about 3 different choices at one time back in New Mexico.  I knew this would be some of the food buying challenges I would be facing when moving back to Ohio.

4 Reasons I Moved Back To Dayton, Ohio

wild-river

  • Wellness Coaching – Help educate people to live healthier lifestyles.  I hope to reach many individuals who want to learn new ideas on how they can live healthier lives, along with having fun learning about new foods.
  • Family/Friends – My husband and I have 7 children between the two of us.  Then we had 5 spouses added to the family along with a total of 15 grandchildren.  I have many friends in the Dayton area who are very supportive of my new business plan.
  • Trees/Grass – I was living in the high desert of Taos, NM where there are not too many large trees (unless one goes up into the mountains) and not a whole lot of grass either.  It is beautiful in both places just in their own way.
  • Change of Pace – Thought I would see what it is like to be back in the city.  I was blessed to live on the Rio Grande River (see above) in NM in the Orilla Verde Recreation Area for 5 years.  I wonder if I will miss the river, mountains, and stars at night?

Getting To Know Melinda Baker: Mother, Wife, Cancer Survivor And Holistic Health Lifestyle Coach

After the loss of my parents to cancer and then myself being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000, I felt the need to take charge of my health and learn how to make myself well – naturally.

I didn’t want to suffer the same fate as my parents and knew that a dramatic lifestyle change was necessary. I began doing research which led me to discover the many ways to nuture the body’s own healing capacity.

Through my research I understood that my lifestyle with the stresses of being a busy working mom and wife, combined with my eating habits, contributed to contracting cancer. It didn’t help that most of my adult life I had been on a series of yo-yo diets, ultimately weighing 189 pounds, quite a lot for someone with my tiny frame.

I made a commitment to get healthy and maintain the new lifestyle.

My life changed for the better and this led to a passion to help others do the same.

The next step on my journey was to obtain my bachelor degree in holistic nutrition from Clayton College of Natural Health. I’ve also been trained as a Second Degree Reiki Practitioner.

Enjoying good health to this day, I am excited to offer the information I have gathered and learned to help people lead long, healthy lives.
